Traveller's World Calendar Overview

The Traveller's World calendar is a voyage of discovery, allowing you to escape in your mind's eye to dream destinations around the globe. Vibrant, alluring images of places across many continents - idyllic beaches, exotic coasts, dramatic mountains and historic cities. Each captivating image is accompanied by full captions giving information about each location.

March's photo is of Corte, Corsica, France. In the centre of the island, in a striking natural setting, circled by jagged peaks, the dramatic citadel of Corte occupies a towering pinnacle of rock. Below, the main town descends down one street with steep steps. Corte was the capital of the island from 1755-1769 under Pasquale Paoli's short lived Corsican Republic. In May we see a photo of Lake Tekapo, South Island, New Zealand. This remarkable turquoise lake in the dramatic setting of the Southern Alps gets its intense milky-turquoise colour from the fine rock-flour (ground by glaciers), suspended in the water. It is also known for its splendid seasonal display of lupins that bloom along its shores, introduced in the Mackenzie Basin in the 1940s.
