One striking photo shows a yellow Porsche 911 (993) Carrera RS, from 1995. RS is short for Rennsport, ‘racing’ in German, and denotes the most lightweight Porsche 911 model, with the weight saving obsession removing many creature comforts and even replacing the metal bonnet badge with a sticker. Its 3.8-litre flat-six engine produces 300 hp, enabling 0-60 mph in 5.0 seconds and a top speed of 168 mph. Early RS-badged 911s are now extremely valuable and this 1995 993 pictured would have been priced at £80,000 in the showroom – today it has an auction value of £300,000 or more.
