Slimline Scenes of Britain Calendar Overview

The Scenes of Britain Slimline calendar is a compilation of contrasting, inspiring images of dramatic wild landscapes and historic places, in a practical slimline format, celebrating the natural beauty and splendour of the British Isles. For instance, there’s a glorious autumnal photo of Perry Wood, near Selling, Kent in November. This tranquil ancient woodland and heathland area was formed from two mounds of gravel and sand rising from the chalk downland. It is a haven for wildlife and has panoramic views over the Kent Downs, Isle of Sheppey and Swale. A viewpoint called The Mount was used as part of a semaphore chain to send messages from London to the Kent ports. December’s atmospheric image is of St Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh in the snow. Situated on the Royal Mile, St Giles was the church of 16th century Protestant Reformer John Knox, father of Presbyterianism. Founded in the 1120s it has a crown-shaped steeple, beautiful stained-glass windows and the famous Thistle Chapel, added in 1911.
