Country Charm Calendar Overview

The Country Charm memo calendar presents atmospheric images of the British countryside. Each magnificent photo conveys the tranquillity, colour and diversity of our rural landscape, bringing it alive.

One peaceful image shows Rydal Water, Cumbria. One of the smallest, prettiest lakes in the Lake District, surrounded by forested slopes and shapely fells, Rydal Water is linked to Grasmere by a level footpath, Loughrigg Terrace. The reedy lake with several small islands is surrounded by wooded slopes and shapely fells and inspired the poetry of Wordsworth and Coleridge. Wordsworth's Seat, a rocky outcrop at the western end, was his favourite Lakeland viewpoint. There's also a winter view of Pendle Hill in Lancashire and the surrounding snow-covered landscape. This prominent, atmospheric hill with a sloping plateau summit is famously linked to the notorious Lancashire witch trials of 1612 of local women accused of witchcraft. From the 557m summit there are extensive views over the wild landscape of the Forest of Bowland.
