Northern Pride Calendar Description

The Northern Pride calendar is a visual journey through the remarkably varied landscape of the North. Enjoy striking photographic images, all representing northern England. We see contrasting images of the River Dee in Chester and Blackpool Tower, as well as lakes and moors.

Pictured at sunset, St Cuthbertís Cross, a solitary wooden cross, stands on a hill overlooking Alnmouth on the spot where St Cuthbert became Bishop of Lindisfarne in 684. This scenic village was a major port until a huge storm in 1806 silted up the harbour and changed the River Alnís course. In another dramatic photo the sun casts its last rays at dusk over purple heather and a silhouetted tree on Grinton Moor, a large expanse of heather moorland above Swaledale, North Yorkshire, which was the site of a major lead mining industry in the 19th century. Each page is accompanied by notes about each intriguing place.
