Bradfield Dale, near Sheffield features in one photo, a rural valley in the Peak District National Park, northwest of Sheffield, covering moorland vibrant with heather and agricultural land around four reservoirs, popular with walkers. The dale includes Hallfield House, dating from the 14th century, and Sugworth Hall, a 16th century manor house. Another great photo is of Whitby Abbey, North Yorkshire. Its atmospheric ruins stand high on the cliffs above the picturesque town and historic port. The Abbey was founded in 657AD by the Saxon King of Northumbria. Later in 1890 its gothic splendour inspired Bram Stoker to write Dracula. 199 steps ascend to the Abbey from the narrow, cobbled streets and the historic harbour past red-roofed fishermen’s houses.
