Slimline World Wildlife Compact Calendar Overview

Animals and birds from all over the world, shown in their natural habitat, are revealed in the World Wildlife calendar. Captivating close-up images give an insight into their spirit and behaviour in this compact slimline postage saver design for economical postage.

One image is of a hippopotamus in Tanzania. This large semi-aquatic mammal, whose name means ‘river horse’, spends the day with most of its body submerged in water to keep cool, emerging at night to forage. Young hippos remain with their mother for many years. Hippos’ webbed feet help them swim well and their dense body allow them to walk underwater along a riverbed for up to 5 minutes. An arctic fox in Alaska, USA is pictured in December. Adapted to survive in a harsh environment, it has a compact body and a coat of very thick fur which turns from grey to white in winter, padded paws to walk on the permafrost and acute hearing to locate prey under the snow. Cubs are raised by both parents. Isolation means it is rarely threatened by human hunting or habitat destruction.
