Planet Nature Calendar Overview

The Planet Nature calendar is a showcase of marvellous photographs which give an insight into the spirit of the wildlife which shares our world. Close-up images of animals and birds from many world destinations, together with informative background notes, make this a calendar which everyone can enjoy.

The red kangaroo, native to Australia, is portrayed in one fascinating image. Red kangaroos inhabit arid landscapes, living in semi-nomadic groups called mobs, usually active at dusk or by night, and resting by day. These large marsupials can leap up to 9m in one bound using their extremely long, strong hind legs and their large tail to counterbalance. Males have short, reddish-brown fur while females are grey in colour. An endearing Adélie penguin, the smallest and most widespread species of penguin in the Antarctic, is depicted in the cover photo. It can dive down to 180m, though it mainly catches fish and krill nearer the surface. Adélies have been known to attack seals and big seabirds by slapping them with their flippers.
