In March the focus is the lemur leaf frog and the Panamanian Rainforest, Panama. This tiny, slender, critically endangered tree frog with large, bulging eyes faces threats to its rainforest habitat from livestock farming, logging, hunting and trapping. It can change colour for camouflage from a vibrant green by day to brown at night as it hunts for insects. A trio of Grevy’s Zebra and the Ngorongora Crater, Tanzania is pictured in June. The largest zebra species has rounded, rotatable ears and narrow stripes so it blends into the background as it grazes in the East African grasslands. Grevy’s zebras are endangered through illegal hunting, drought, overgrazing and competition with livestock.
