Bosta Beach, Isle of Lewis is the subject of June’s photo. This idyllic bay of dazzling fine shell sand, pounded by Atlantic waves, is at the north tip of the isle of Great Bernera, linked to the Isle of Lewis by a bridge. The ruins of an Iron Age fort stand near this pristine beach, backed by grassy cliffs. Pictured on August’s page is Neidpath Castle, Peebles, Scottish Borders. The River Tweed flows past its dramatic ruins. This L-shaped tower house with terraced gardens was founded around 1190, with rugged stone walls, hidden staircases, and splendid views from the battlements.
