Art Britain Calendar Overview

Beautifully crafted paintings of the British landscape in the Art Britain calendar are a true delight. Talented artists Peter Bradshaw, Edward Hersey, Deborah Poynton, Peter Kotka and Gordon Lees capture the atmosphere of each rural scene in every small detail.

One picture shows a traditional painted Romany caravan pulled by a black and white horse setting off on a journey, with two characters chatting at the reins – it is entitled ‘Ventures New’. There’s also a lovely snowy scene of a pair of pheasants near a farmhouse on a sunny winter’s day, the sunlight contrasting with the shadow, with the title ‘First Snowfall’. Two colourful canal barges moored by a bridge on a peaceful canal, a scene of people harvesting hay by a river, a group of black and white cows in a frosty winter pasture near a huge tree, denuded of leaves, revealed in wonderful detail, provide more subjects for these charming landscape paintings.
