British Birds Calendar Overview

Our intriguing birdlife, outstandingly photographed in the British Birds calendar will delight bird lovers and bird watchers. Each page has a colourful, striking image of a bird found in and around the UK in its natural habitat along with an equally fascinating inset photo. Information about each bird is given in insightful notes on behaviour, habitat and identification, as well as its Latin name and some key facts.

For instance, the bearded tit is a small, sociable, noisy bird with a long tail that is mainly found in large reedbeds where it feeds on insects and reed seeds. It builds its nest low down among the reeds, often on piles of dead reed stems. Another page shows Britain’s most common owl, the tawny owl. It has a distinct, hooting call, hunting by night, gliding silently on bowed wings. Sensitive sight and hearing help it locate rodents. Its round, flat face, big eyes and large ears, hidden behind the facial feathers around the eyes, are adapted for nocturnal hunting.
