In one captivating image we see a pine marten, looking very alert. This rare mustelid has chestnut brown fur with a yellow bib on the chin and throat and a long, bushy tail. It is found mainly in Scotland but has been reintroduced in other remote areas of the UK. It prefers woodland and conifer plantations and rocky hillsides, nesting in tree-holes and feeding on small rodents, eggs, insects and fruit.
