British Wildlife Calendar Overview

The British Wildlife calendar features animals and birds native to Britain, viewed close-up in amazing detail. This engaging and charming calendar is sure to delight and appeal to your clients with wonderful images and informative background notes on every page. There’s a vibrant image of a waxwing on one page.

These colourful, crested, gregarious birds arrive in Britain in winter from Scandinavia and Russia, deriving their name from their waxy tips on their sleek feathers and their wanderings everywhere in search of food. Waxwings eat mainly fruit, but also buds and insects and can readily strip coniferous trees of their berries at an alarming rate. A cute harvest mouse is pictured in another photo. This tiny, agile rodent, weighing just 6g, uses its slender, prehensile tail, which is the same length as its body (7.5cm), to anchor itself and climb up very thin corn stalks. The female shreds lengths of grass, still attached to a stalk, with her teeth and pulls them together to weave a spherical nest among the stems of corn or in a hedgerow.
