Wildlife in Britain Wall Calendar Overview

Endearing but elusive wildlife that we only glimpse from afar, pictured close-up in the Wildlife in Britain calendar is guaranteed to appeal. This engaging calendar also includes informative notes and detailed inset photos. Wild creatures native to Britain are brought close to us in through outstanding wildlife photography.

In one photo we see an otter standing, alert. Curious but elusive, otters are graceful and agile swimmers, with strong tails and large lungs to help them stay underwater for up to four minutes in rivers, lakes and coastal areas. They build a holt, a den in a riverbank and enjoy playfully frolicking in and out of the water. Legal protection and cleaner rivers have increased their numbers. The tiny, endangered hazel dormouse, with soft golden fur, is shown in another superb photo. Only 6-9cm long, weighing 20-30g, it sleeps all day in summer, curling up in a ball to conserve energy. It lives in the woodland canopy, climbing branches at night to find hazelnuts and seeds and hibernates in winter.
