The Working Horse Calendar Overview

Finely detailed paintings by artist Robin Wheeldon in the Working Horse calendar take a nostalgic look back to the days when powerful, beautiful working horses were the mainstay of rural life. Exquisitely depicted, the horses and their owners seem to share a strong bond as these graceful creatures are shown at work, individually and in pairs, in the countryside and towns.

In one painting we see a horse being harnessed up by a farmer ready to pull a barrel of water for irrigation as a black labrador dog looks on. In another, two white and dappled shire horses are pulling harvesting machinery being driven by a farmer along a golden cornfield on a sunny day as a hare runs in front of them. Whether it be storms, rain, snow or sunshine – working horses did their job without complaining in all kinds of weather. This unusual nostalgic calendar will appeal to all lovers of horses and the rural way of life.
