The Rural Heritage promotional calendar conveys a feeling of nostalgia and a yearning for a time when everything moved at a slower pace. For instance, one painting, entitled ‘Cutting edge of steam’ depicts a 7nbp traction engine, built by William Foster & Co. Ltd. of Lincoln in 1924, which provides the power for sawing timber. In years past, steam was used to carry out many tasks in country districts, such as threshing, ploughing and haulage. Longwool sheep, accompanied by farmers and breeders in white coats are being judged at an agricultural show in another painting. Judging the local breed of sheep at Heckington, Lincolnshire - a scene repeated up and down the country in the summer months.
