Rural Heritage Calendar Overview

In the Rural Heritage calendar your clients can follow the development of farming techniques and the history of agricultural practice and take a nostalgic glimpse back in time. Rural traditions are depicted in intricate detail in paintings by Robin Wheeldon and Steven Binks, together with a paragraph of fascinating background information.

In January’s picture we see a Fordson Super Major tractor, a range introduced in 1951 with curved styling, six speed transmission and a reliable diesel engine. In the mid 20th century working horses were replaced by tractors, but old horse drawn equipment was often pressed into service, such as the wooden wagon being hitched up by its lady driver. In May’s picture a fine Tamworth sow is being presented to the judge. Tamworth pigs, with their long snout, pricked up ears and a rich golden brown coat are said to be the purest breed in Britain, originating in Staffordshire in the early 19th century.
