Taking a look back at road haulage through the decades, the On the Move calendar will appeal not only to lovers of vintage road transport but also to everyone who enjoys a nostalgic glimpse back in time. Artists Mike Jeffries and Alan Spillett authentically portray different types of lorries transporting goods in all sorts of weather in contrasting locations all over Britain. The intricately detailed paintings are accompanied by factual background notes.

An AEC Mandator is depicted in one image, on the west coast of Kintyre, homeward bound for Paisley. The Mandator designation first appeared in the 1930s and was also used post-war and on tractor units up until the 1970s, by which time AEC had become part of Leyland Motors. Another painting shows a TS3 powered Commer QX, belonging to Robert Middleton of Burton in Lonsdale. You can almost hear the distinctive exhaust bark of the 3 cylinder 2 stroke engine echoing off the stone walls in Leyburn, having safely negotiated a tricky hill, laden with bales of hay.
