Caledonia Calendar Description

Caledonia calendar which presents contrasting landscape vistas of tranquil lochs, lush waterfalls, snow-clad river valleys, rugged coastlines and historic buildings.

For example, we see in one photo the tiered strata of red sandstone on Tarbat Ness, Easter Ross, a headland at the northeast tip of the Tain peninsula, overlooking the Dornoch Firth. The red-banded lighthouse is one of Britainís tallest, 53m tall and was built in 1830 after the loss of 16 ships in a storm off the Moray Firth in 1826. The cliffs are a popular stopover for migratory birds during the autumn migration. The atmospheric ruins of St Andrewís Cathedral in the medieval city of St Andrews, Fife are pictured in another photo. Built between 1158 and 1318, it was once the largest church in Scotland and a major religious centre until 1560. It is a prominent landmark offering spectacular views of the coast and sea.
