Kyleakin Harbour, Isle of Skye, Hebrides, shown in July, was once the gateway to Skye for ferries across the Kyle of Lochalsh until the Skye Bridge was built in 1995. It is now a small, quiet fishing port, with houses clustered round a sheltered harbour. On a mound above the harbour is the ruined Caisteal Maol, a castle keep built in the 1400s. Glen Etive, Glencoe, Highland is featured in April's photo. The River Etive flows through the picturesque and remote glen, tumbling over waterfalls and descending through wooded gorges to reach Loch Etive. A single-track road meanders along the glen, with splendid views along the route of the mountains and moorland.
