Colin Prior Elementals Wall Calendar Overview

Taking you to some of the truly wild and remote locations in Scotland, the Colin Prior Elementals calendar is a stunning calendar with an underlying message of conservation. Twelve dramatic images encapsulate the beauty and serenity of each wild landscape, accompanied by the photographer’s personal background notes. His exploration of the different photographic format emphasises the relationship between the primal elements of the landscape. Seeking out what he refers to as ‘undisturbed places’ he has gained world acclaim for his naturalistic and dramatic portrayal of the beauty of the wild places of Scotland.

Traigh Seilebost, Sound of Taransay, on the Isle of Harris is the focus of February’s dramatic image. Beyond the rocky foreshore, a narrow belt of dunes dominated by the tough marram grass helps to stabilise the constantly shifting sands. Where shell sand has been blown over peat, a greatly enriched flora exists on the machair, which includes, purple and red self heal, germander speedwell, red campion, and Hebridean orchids.
