Pictorial Britain Calendar Description

Captivating images in the Pictorial Britain calendar bring together our picturesque and incredibly varied British landscape and the creatures which inhabit it. Each wonderful image is accompanied by an inset photo of an animal or bird found in that area and a paragraph showing the link between each wild creature and its environment.

A path snakes through verdant beech woods near Alnwick, near the renowned castle dating from 1096 and its formal gardens. This woodland is a typical habitat for the wood mouse, which feeds on seeds of trees, fruits and berries. The tranquillity of untamed ancient heathland is captured in a photo showing mist resting over Hothfield Heath in Kent as the early morning sun lights up purple heather and bracken. It is home to the viviparous lizard, which gives birth to live young rather than laying eggs.
