Watercolour Britain Calendar Description

David Birtwhistle’s exquisitely-crafted watercolour paintings of the British landscape, towns and villages are a true delight in the Watercolour Britain calendar. The artist captures the flavour of each place in every small detail, and has painted himself in each of the paintings, wearing a distinctive red shirt.

The first painting depicts Eyemouth Harbour, in the Scottish Borders, with a colourful fishing boat and people sitting outside a nearby pub at sunset. The orange sky, boat and houses are all beautifully reflected in the water. In the picture of Cullompton in Devon our eyes are drawn from the fine Georgian buildings and church to observe the finer detail of the painting - a wedding party with bride and groom standing at the church entrance. In December’s snowy scene we see children building a snowman and pulling a sledge in a square in Worcester, making the most of the snow.
