The image for the month of February shows the Pantheon and Obelisk, Piazza della Rotonda in Rome, Italy. The Pantheon is a 2nd century Roman temple, a rotunda, circular in form with the world's largest unreinforced concrete dome. It has been a Catholic church since AD 609 and its informal name of Santa Maria Rotonda gives its name to the Piazza where it stands. The baroque fountain in front of the Pantheon is topped by an Egyptian obelisk that is over 3000 years old, added under Pope Clement XI in 1711.
