Elf on the Shelf Brings Festive Fun to Calendar Factory
As the festive season approaches, workplaces across the UK are gearing up for a bit of light-hearted cheer, and our factory is no exception. Our Elf on the Shelf visitors have been popping up in unexpected places, adding humour and festive fun during one of the busiest times of the year.
The Elf on the Shelf tradition first gained popularity in the United States with a 2005 children’s book written by Carol Aebersold and her daughter Chanda Bell. The idea quickly spread across the globe: elves appear each December, moving around overnight and reappearing in playful or mischievous scenes the next morning. Businesses across the UK have embraced the trend as a simple but effective way to boost morale and bring seasonal cheer to the workplace.
Here at Rose Calendars, the elves have certainly achieved that. Each day, thanks to Sammy who works on our late shift, staff arrive to find them in a new humorous tableau, often cleverly positioned among the equipment and machinery in our factory, warehouses and offices. Today for example, a group of mischievous elves had set up a bowling game atop a finishing bench, complete with mini skittles. Last week an over confident elf had its legs chopped off in the guillotine, but perhaps that’s not one to share with anyone who’s squeamish!
Not to be outdone, another pair of adventurous elves were found scaling one of our racking towers, tackling a festive climbing challenge to hang mini fairy lights. And in a moment that raised plenty of smiles, two chummy pals were found having had an ‘elf sleep-over’ in a quiet corner.
Businesses across the UK have jumped onto the trend too. Offices, workshops and retail spaces have been taking part in the action, using the tradition as a fun way to boost morale and create a bit of festive anticipation at the end of a busy year.
For us, the elves have provided a unique chance to highlight each stage of the process in producing our promotional business calendars.
With more orders going out each day and the New Year fast approaching, these fun tableaux have continued to offer encouragement, bringing smiles and anticipation as to what they might get up to next!
