Celebrating a Fourth Generation Family Business

Last week, the family business community came together to celebrate the contribution family firms make to the national economy and to announce the winners of the Family Business of the Year Awards 2025.

Held in the surroundings of the Royal Geographical Society in South Kensington, businesses from across the UK gathered together to find out who had scooped prizes within the regions and subject categories.

Hosted by Family Business United, the organisation which supports and promotes family firms, the prestigious awards see a coming together of a family network, made up from a broad selection of industries. Hotels, manufacturers, food producers, building groups, care homes, paint suppliers, accountants, education providers and even ice producers gathered to share a common ground of partnership and comradery and to relish in the values so crucial to family businesses.

Rose Calendars had reached finalists in the Eastern region, amidst stiff competition and on the night, came runners up for the regional award. Despite not taking home the award, being part of the process, combining with like-minded family firms and the sense of value more than made up for the lack of trophy.

Paul Andrews, Family Business United front man commented “Events like these are special and the evening had a palpable mix of excitement, anticipation and community – the essence of being part of a bigger community, the collective sense of pride in being a family business and recognition for some families of their endeavours, for some that have extended over numerous generations.”

He continued “Family businesses are the engine room of the UK economy and with 5 million family firms employing around 15 million people in all corners of the country they make a massive impact each and every day. Incomes are generated, jobs provided and wealth created.”

This firm fixture in the family business calendar, offered by the awards represent an important sense of belonging, in industries which are united by being part of a family. They present a fabulous celebration of the contribution of family businesses to the national economy.

Congratulations to all the finalists, winners and runners up and we look forward to next year when we look forward to taking our fourth generation family business back in to the awards for 2026. We will certainly be back in the running….!
