Walking for St Helena Hospice: Pier to Pier Challenge Raises Over £525
An energetic team of walkers from Rose Calendars have just completed a 7-mile charity walk from Clacton Pier to Walton-on-the-Naze Pier in support of St Helena Hospice, helping to raise vital funds for people living with terminal and incurable illness across North Essex.
Representing a true team effort, the walkers included Managing Director Michael Rose, Elizabeth Rose, Elliot Van Sertima, Michelle Van Sertima, Debbie and her partner Steve. Two four-legged companions also joined the challenge and successfully completed the full distance alongside the team.
Starting at the iconic Clacton Pier and finishing at Walton Pier, the walk brought together fundraising, teamwork and community spirit along the beautiful Essex coastline.
The team were also incredibly fortunate with the weather throughout the day. Despite dark clouds beginning to gather towards the finish, the rain managed to hold off, allowing everyone to enjoy the walk in the sunshine from start to finish, perfect conditions for such a worthwhile challenge.
Together, the team raised more than £525, contributing towards the incredible overall total of over £80,000 raised during this flagship fundraising event for the hospice.
Along the route, the team met friends and past colleagues, one of whom has not worked for us for over 20 years, and funnily enough she now works for the hospice. We enjoyed a brief catch-up!
The money raised will help St Helena Hospice continue providing invaluable care and support for local people facing terminal and incurable illness, as well as support for their families and loved ones during incredibly difficult times.
Thank you to everyone who walked, supported or donated to make such a difference.
