Florence Rose who is fifth generation Rose family, has recently completed her second half marathon in the space of just a month, raising funds for two charities.

She is currently working as a Sustainability Intern, on a placement year for her degree at The University of Exeter, having previously carried out work experience at Rose Calendars within the Marketing Department.

The latest race which took place on 10th October, was the London Royal Parks Half Marathon, and is notoriously difficult to get places for. Luckily, through her work with The Princes Trust, she was entered into the ballot and was successful in being offered a place, with only a few weeks notice. Florence had already signed up for her first half marathon in Plymouth with a friend from university and due to Covid this had been rescheduled from 2020. The girls raised money for Bowel Cancer West and finished their race in good time, but Florence then had to continue her training to be in with a chance of beating her time in the London race and run it alone. Luckily her support crew (Managing Director and Father, Michael Rose), was on hand on the day to keep track of Florence and provide water and much needed encouragement.

Florence is doing her internship at Vestey Holdings who are also a fellow family business. They have generously match funded the sponsorship money she raised and been supportive of her training and family business links.

The Princes Trust helps vulnerable young people get their lives on track. It supports 11 to 30-year-olds who are unemployed and those struggling at school and at risk of exclusion.

Speaking of her achievement after the race, Florence said

“I thoroughly enjoyed my Royal Parks Half, especially the terrain, and running past Buckingham Palace and down the Mall. The atmosphere was brilliant and I was pleased to beat my Plymouth time by seven and a half minutes! I’m proud to have raised over £500 for the Princes Trust.”
